Double Timber Garage Door Replaced with a Gliderol Insulated Roller Door Following a Break-in

We were approached by a client looking to replace an electric opening double wooden garage door after a break in at the property. The client was keen to install a new door that would provide much better levels of security whilst still matching the properties character. Additionally we were also requested to supply a door that would let a certain amount of light into the garage when the door is shut. After speaking with the customer, it was felt that the door that best suited the needs of the brief was the Gliderol insulated roller garage door.

This type of door was selected on the following basis.

  • The door has no handles meaning there is no leverage point to force the door open.
  • The door comes with a 98db alarm that triggers if the door is forced open.
  • Very strong door profile that is much thicker than a traditional wooden garage door.
  • The door locks automatically every time it is shut.
  • Allows the roof space to be utilised as storage as the door coils up into a neat roll behind the lintel when full open.
  • Available with vision windows.
  • Provides sound and insulation properties. Ideal as the garage is attached to the house and a bedroom is above it.


    • After viewing a number of photographs of both inside and outside the garage, we advised what would be required in order to install the door. We liaised with the customer on numerous occasions to ensure all details were fully understood.

    The customer then provided us with accurate site dimensions, full door specification including colour, motor side etc. After all aspects were finalised an order was processed and payment was taken for the supply and installation of the roller door. On the day of installation, the customer removed the old wooden door and our team of expert fitters duly arrived with the new roller garage doors and swiftly and professionally installed it.

    Gliderol insulated roller garage door has been specified in black and includes 3 rows of vision slats to allow a small amount of light to enter the garage. The vision slats are clearly visible and are a unusual addition to a roller garage door for domestic properties, but in this case works well.
