Located in Kensington in the heart of central London the owner of this period style mews house was spending a small fortune making alterations to the internal layout of their home. Included in the design was the requirement to install a new garage door that would not only be in keeping with the style of property but would also provide high levels of security.

Client Brief

Following on from an initial consultation with the client we were able to establish that the customer had a number of specific tasks the door would be needed to perform and as such were looking for a design that would offer the following features, performance and benefits.

1) As a mews style property the garage is attached to the house and a room is above the space therefore the door should be insulated to help prevent heat loss and better regulate the internal temperature of the garage.

2) The door must offer a high level of security as an expensive and very rare sports car would be parked in the garage overnight or whenever the property owner was away on business.

3) The door should be operated using a remote control for added convenience.

4) An existing fan light window above the garage opening is an original feature and must remain in place and not be blocked by any of the garage door mechanism.

5) Due to the high value of the property the customer was looking for a strong, durable and reliable security solution that would stand the test of time, require minimal maintenance and ultimately protect their assets.

Solution

Once the full requirements of the customer had been established the team at Roller Doors Ltd were able to come up with several options for the property owner including a sectional door, a wooden up and over garage door and a garage roller door. However after explaining the benefits and drawbacks of each design it was felt that the best solution would be to go with electric insulated roller shutter garage doors.
